The INCLUDE TAGS checkbox on the badging page refers to the tag icon, rather than the tag itself.
This is by design. Guests can be assigned an infinite number of tags, with long word counts. Therefore, including the full tag name(s) on badges isn't workable for legibility and printability.
Tags are primarily for internal use, for event managers to distinguish between tiers of guests. Oftentimes, tags are hierarchical (VIP, general admission, C-suite, junior staff). We created the icon system so event managers could organize their guests via badges with subtle visual cues rather than words that let guests know their status within the event.
